ILNA Renewal Process

The first time you renew your certification after passing a test, see your test results report for the number of points you need to renew and the subject areas where you can earn points.
Shortly after each time you renew by Option 1 (points) you'll take a learning needs assessment. The assessment results report will identify the number of points you need for your next renewal. Take your assessment as soon as you are eligible, preferably in the first year of your certification cycle. That will provide you with the most time to earn points. The deadline to take the assessment is January 31 of the year renewal is due.

Renewal Process

Record your renewal points in LearningBuilder

You will record information about your points on your learning plan in LearningBuilder. When you have entered all the required points and are ready to apply for renewal you will submit your learning plan in LearningBuilder. Access LearningBuilder in your account dashboard.

Continuing Competence & Certification Renewal

The purpose of recertification is for ONCC certified nurses to demonstrate continued competency by practicing in their specialty and enhancing their knowledge following initial certification. Recertification seeks to assure the public that certified nurses have maintained current knowledge in the specialty represented by their credential. Recertification requires certified nurses to continue those activities that are essential to maintaining the knowledge required for their practice level and specialty certification.

Staying Up to Date

ONCC will attempt to send you renewal reminders by email, mail, or automated phone call. However, we cannot control delivery of reminders to your inbox, mailbox, or phone. It is your responsibility to apply for certification renewal by the deadline date regardless of whether you receive reminders.
