Firearm Use & Application Information
On October 21, 1998, the Massachusetts 1998 Gun Control Act became effective. Additionally on August 13, 2014; the Governor signed House Bill 4376 "An Act Relative to Reduction in Gun Violence" (http://www.mass.gov/eopss/agencies/dcjis/key-changes-to-the-massachusetts-gun-laws-august-2014.html).
This law has made substantial changes in the permitting process and effects training, fees, weapon ownership, license restrictions, safety locks, and many other issues. As of this writing, many organizations are working with the Legislature to amend certain parts of the law and we expect additional changes in the future.
